Vital Life Foundation

Phil Fogg Jr. • Director

It was probably inevitable that Phil would devote his life to serving seniors. A fourth-generation long-term care professional, he worked in his father’s facilities since the age of 13.

Phil graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Health Care Administration, and earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Oregon. After starting his career as an administrator with Prestige Care, he stepped out on his own in 1989 to create Marquis Companies. Together with Consonus Healthcare, it’s now one of the Northwest’s largest providers of senior care services.

Of all the worthy causes Phil has actively supported, he’s found his involvement with the Vital Life Foundation to be the most rewarding. “Not only has it affected my life, but it’s been a vehicle to create a positive corporate culture at Marquis that promotes vitality in residents, clients and staff members,” he says.

Looking to the future, Phil’s dream for the Foundation is to create a large, sustainable endowment, funding the efforts of its partner charities and expanding its reach and impact. “At some point, we all go through a mental transformation and realize that the time and money we give to others has enormous value and impact,” he says. “Vital Life gives us each that opportunity.”

Phil is past president of the Oregon Health Care Association, and has served on the Oregon Gerontological Association. He is a board member for Ronald McDonald House Charities and the American Care Association.
