Vital Life Foundation

Jennifer Hoffer • Secretary

When Jennifer Hoffer was a 10-year-old Girl Scout, she adopted a bed-ridden elderly resident at a nearby nursing home—a relationship that changed the course of her life. “I knew right then that I wanted to work with seniors,” she says.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health promotion/fitness management from Southern Oregon University, and started her career as an activity director at Marquis Companies. In seeking to revitalize the activity calendar, Jennifer had an innovative idea to fulfill senior wishes through a program she called “Forget-Me-Not.”

Almost a dozen years later, thousands of residents have had their dreams come to life in long-term care settings in at least six states. The program has been renamed “New Chapters,” and is now one of the cornerstones of the Marquis and Consonus Culture.

Besides serving as a Marquis administrator and a liaison for Marquis at Home, Jennifer continues to work creatively to get residents involved in supporting Foundation partners as Vital Volunteers. Whether helping deliver Meals on Wheels or bringing cheer to the Ronald McDonald House, she believes seniors have a vital role to play. “They want so much to be part of living,” she says, “and they have a lot to contribute.”
