VITAL LIFE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES $5,000 SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS IN LONG-TERM CARE INDUSTRY Scholarship Honors Employee’s Life of Dedication to Senior Care in Las Vegas With the Healthcare Administration Scholarship

July 27, 2010 – Honoring the life of Paul Boyar, a leader in Nevada’s long-term care industry who dedicated his life to the care and well-being of seniors, The Vital Life Foundation recently announced the Paul Boyar Healthcare Administration Scholarship. The program aims to provide Nevada students currently working in the long-term care industry with additional funding to further their education and certification.

The Vital Life Foundation exists as a non-profit foundation, offering support to organizations and programs that provide meaning and vitality to the lives of seniors and staff members living and working in long-term care. As its first student scholarship, The Vital Life Foundation is proud to award one annual scholarship of $5,000 to a Nevada student currently working in a long-term care profession. The funds from the scholarship are granted for use in continued studies related to nursing, health services, social work, physical or occupational therapy, and residential or assisted living health care or facility management.

Following Paul Boyar's passing in 2009, The Healthcare Administration Scholarship honors the memory of his life and his commitment to long-term care. A former president of Nevada Healthcare Association, Paul made his mark in Nevada as the administrator of Marquis Companies’, Marquis Care at Plaza Regency facility in Las Vegas. During his ten-year position at Marquis Care at Plaza Regency, Paul was known to fellow staff and employees for his commitment to high standards of excellence and relentless enforcement of quality at the facility, but, above all else, he was known for his love of his staff, residents and the long-term care profession. Paul recruited and retained excellent employees and encouraged staff to continue to grow and develop as leaders.

“Paul was an inspiration to everyone at Marquis Care at Plaza Regency and I am honored that we can extend his encouragement and dedication to others in the long-term care industry,” explains Charles Bloom, sales and marketing vice president for Marquis Companies and co-chair of the Vital Life Foundation board. “We are excited to award individuals who demonstrate the same commitment and drive for senior care.”
