MARQUIS MAKES DREAMS COME TRUE FOR SKILLED NURSING HOME RESIDENTS AT PORTLAND BEAVERS VS. THE LAS VEGAS 51’S BASEBALL GAME JULY 31

July 31, 2009 – Baseball fanatics and skilled nursing residents Wanda Scott and Eleanor Mace of the Portland area will attend The Portland Beavers vs. Las Vegas 51’s baseball game at PGE Park on July 31 as part of the Marquis and Consonus New Chapters Program.   Marquis, a skilled nursing, assisted living and home health care company and its sister company Consonus created the New Chapters Program to help senior citizens realize their lifelong dreams.

Facility managers have secured a suite at the game behind the dugout along with a visit from Beavers mascot “Lucky.”  Friday, July 31 is sure to be a highlight for these two women who have already built their lives around a passion for the sport of baseball.

A Game to Remember for Skilled Nursing Residents
Wanda Scott was born in Walla Walla, Wash. where she was nicknamed “Shorty” because she never quite reached five-feet tall. Wanda is a sports fan through and through and as her children got older and began having children of their own, Wanda would attend all of her grandson’s baseball games cheering from the stands. This will be Wanda’s first time returning to PGE Park since her Grandson took her there two years ago for a game. Wanda exclaimed, “I want to sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame when I get there because I will have finally made it!”

Eleanor Mace grew up in Montpellier, N.D.  on her grandparent’s farm where she lived for upwards of 22 years.  A life-long Braves fan, Eleanor still adorns the walls of her room at the Oregon City Marquis Care Skilled Nursing Facility with an Atlanta Braves Poster.  Eleanor says that although the Beavers are not the Braves she is still very excited to see them play.  “I never thought I would be able to see a baseball game again!”
